Road Trip: Texas — Louisiana — Mississippi
I originally had a road trip planned for March 2021 from OKC to Arkansas to see a friend. However, the weekend had severe thunderstorms which would have ruined the trip so I last minute switched plans to fly out to Houston and do a road trip to Jackson, Mississippi.
While eating breakfast in Houston I thought it would be cool to go to a gun range while in Texas and phoned a few ranges that would be on the drive to Baton Rouge. At one range, a gentleman named Danny picked up at Leger’s and said he could show me the ropes in a couple hours since he was already at the range.
After shooting some pistol rounds at the range I hit the road again and hit another Texas-specialty, Whataburger. I ordered a patty melt from a sweet lady at the counter who called me something like honey or baby. My order took some time and I saw a few customers from the drive thru come in frustrated at delays or not getting the right food.
Refueled from the melt and a Coca-Cola in coaster, I hit the road to spend the night in Baton Rouge. Once in town I sought out some proper Louisiana supper at Cecelia Creole Bistro:
The next morning I made a pit stop at LSU before hitting the road to Mississippi.
On the way to Jackson, I made a stop in Natchez to get a look at the Mississippi River and have lunch. Didn’t get any good shots of the river so will share a shot of the southern mural:
Before going to the airport I made a pit stop at a local dive bar to scope the vibe. The gentlemen at the bar didn’t want to talk to me so I just drank my bud light and bounced.
I took one final selfie to wrap up the trip after a long day of tearing up the highway.
